Puzzle 85: Battleship Plus-Minus

I will start with an apology for not posting lately. The facebook page I opened for this blog got 60 followers, and I was just too overwhelmed. But seriously, I was abroad, and I'm still trying to get back into my routine. Also, I suffered a tragic loss of a really nice puzzle I wrote when my computer decided to restart, and have not been able to recreate it. More on that later. Now, without further ado:

Battleship Plus-Minus

The following is a twist on the Battleship puzzle. This version was invented by Kobi Perl, who not only thought of the idea, but also provided me with a whole bunch of these puzzles that were generated by a script he wrote. 
The following are a few of the puzzles he sent me, and more will be featured in future posts.

Rules for Battleship

Fill in the grid with the battleships pictured below it. Each ship can be positioned vertically or horizontally. No ship may touch another ship, not even diagonally.  A ship's length indicated how many squares it fills. A number besides a row or column indicates how many squares in the row or column have a ship part in them.
Some squares were filled with water already, and do not have ships going through them. Some squares were filled with parts of ships. The puzzle has a unique solution.

The Plus-Minus Twist

The clues are divided into several groups. Each group has a sign next to it: + (colored green), - (colored red), or no sign (colored white). In each group with a + sign, exactly one of the clues is wrong, and needs to be increased by one to be correct. In each group with a - sign, exactly one of the clues is wrong, and needs to be decreased by one to be correct.

צוללות פלוס-מינוס

החידה היא ווריאנט של חידת צוללות. הגרסה הזו הומצאה על ידי קובי פרל, שלא רק חשב על הרעיון, אלא שלח לי מלא חידות מהסוג הזה שנוצרו על ידי סקריפט שהוא כתב.

מצורפות כמה מהחידות שהוא שלח לי, וחידות נוספות שלו תופענה בפוסטים עתידיים.

החוקים של צוללות

מלאו את הטבלה בצוללות שמצוירות תחתיה. כל צוללת יכולה להיות ממוקמת בצורה אופקית או בצורה אנכית. אסור ששתי צוללות תיגענה אחת בשנייה, גם לא באלכסון. האורך של צוללת מציין כמה משבצות היא ממלאה. מספר ליד שורה או עמודה מציין כמה משבצות יש בשורה או בעמודה עם חלקי צוללות בתוכן. 
חלק מהמשבצות כבר מולאו במים, וצוללות לא יכולות לעבור דרכן. חלק מהמשבצות כבר מולאו בחלקי צוללות. יש לחידה פתרון יחיד.

וריאנט פלוס-מינוס

הרמזים מחולקים למספר קבוצות. ליד כל קבוצה יש סימן לידה: + (בצבע ירוק), - (בצבע אדום), או שום סימן (בצבע לבן). בכל קבוצה עם סימן + יש בדיוק רמז אחד שגוי, וצריך להוסיף לרמז הזה 1 כדי שהוא יהיה נכון. בכל קבוצה עם סימן - יש בדיוק רמז אחד שגוי, וצריך לחסר מהרמז הזה 1 כדי שהוא יהיה נכון.

1. We say that two colored cells are connected, if there is a path between them that only goes through colored cells in vertical and/or horizontal steps.
2. We say a numbered cell is strongly connected to an unnumbered colored cell, if there is a path between them that only goes through unnumbered colored cells in vertical and/or horizontal steps.

The puzzle:
Color some of the cells to form a single connected colored region. That is, every two colored cells must be connected. Recall that the numbered cells are also considered colored. A number in a cell indicates how many unnumbered colored cells are strongly connected to it.
The puzzle has a single solution. 

בחידה הבאה, כל המשבצות שיש בתוכן מספר נחשבות צבועות. נתחיל בהגדרות:

Puzzle 81: Connector

Color exactly one of the two regions in every black bordered 2X2 square. All colored regions must form a single continous shape. The colored shape may not have any loops in it (that is, for every two colored regions, there is only a single path along the shape between them). The colored shape does not have any 2X2 square area in it.

צבעו בדיוק את אחד משני השטחים בכל ריבוע שממוסגר בשחור. הריבועים הממוסגרים הם בגודל 2X2. כל השטחים הצבועים צריכים ליצור צורה אחת רציפה. אסור שהצורה הצבועה תכיל לולאה (כלומר, עבור שני איזורים צבועים, צריך להיות מסלול יחיד ביניהם בתוך הצורה). בצורה הצבועה אין אף ריבוע בגודל 2X2.

Puzzle 80: Triple Trouble: Mastermind, Skyscrapers, and ABCtje

Following are three puzzles.

The first one is a Mastermind puzzle. After you solve it, you will know which numerical value corresponds to each shape. Several shapes may represent the same digit.
Then you can plug in the numbers instead of the shapes as the clues for the Skyscrapers puzzle.
After you solve it, again, you will know the value that corresponds to each shape inside the grid.
Solve the simple equations using these values in order to plug in the clues for the ABCtje puzzle.
After solving the ABCtje puzzle, each letter will have a numerical value. Plug in the letters in the spots of the corresponding numbers, and you will find a Dr. Seuss quote.

הראשון הוא מסוג מאסטרמיינד. אחרי שתפתרו אותו, תדעו מה הערך המספרי של כל אחת מהצורות בפתרון. כמה צורות יכולות לייצג את אותו הערך.

Puzzle 79: Partial-Kropki Skyscrapers (1-6)

This is a Skyscrapers puzzle combined with Kropki. Note that this variant only includes some of the standard Kropki rules, and not all of them. The Kropki will add the two following rules (in addition to the standard Skyscrapers rules that are written at the end of the post):
1. If two numbers have a black circle between them, one of them is exactly twice the value of the other.
2. If two numbers have a white circle between them, one is larger than the other by exactly 1.

A number next to a row or column, indicates how many skyscrapers from that row or column can be seen from that position. Taller skyscrapers block the view of shorter skyscrapers that are located anywhere behind them. There is a unique solution to the puzzle.

Puzzle 78: Kropki (1-8)

There was an error in the puzzle that was corrected.

Fill in the grid with the numbers 1-8. Each number must appear exactly once in each row and in each column.
There are two special cases we refer to:
a. for two adjacent cells, the number in one of them is smaller by one of the number in the other,
b. for two adjacent cells, the number in one of them is half of the number in the other.

If two cells have a white dot between them, the number in one of them must be smaller by one than the number in the other (case a). If two cells have a black dot between them, the number in one of them must be half of the number in the other (case b).

Puzzle 76: Magic Spiral (1-4)

Form a path through the spiral (starting at the top left corner) formed of the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and blank spaces. The first number in the path must be a 1, the last number in the path must be a 4, and throughout the path, the numbers must appear in order: 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1...
When the path is filled, each row and each column should contain each number exactly once.
Thre is a single solution to the puzzle.

צרו מסלול בתוך הספירלה (החל מהמשבצת השמאלית העליונה) מהמספרים 1, 2, 3, 4 ומשבצות ריקות. המספר הראשון שמופיע במסלול צריך להיות 1, והאחרון צריך להיות 4. במהלך המסלול המספרים צריכים להופיע לפי הסדר: 1 אחר כך 2 אחר כך 3 אחר כך 4 אחר כך 1 וכן הלאה.

Puzzle 75: Yajilin Fibbers

This is a variant of Yajilin. The grid is divided into four thick-bordered regions. In each region, exactly one of the clues is incorrect, and the actual clue that should be there is larger or smaller than the written clue by exactly one.
The rules for Yajilin are below.

וריאנט של Yajilin. הטבלה מחולקת לארבעה חלקים עם מסגרת עבה. בכל אחד מהחלקים בדיוק אחד מהרמזים שגוי, והרמז האמיתי שאמור להיות שם גדול או קטן בדיוק ב-1 מהרמז שכתוב.

Standard Yajilin Rules:

Blacken some white cells so that you can draw a closed loop that does not intersect itself through all remaining white cells (not including the hint cells). The loop passes through cells that are vertically or horizontally adjacent, the loop can't pass diagonally between two cells. Hint cells may not be blackened. The hint cells, that have a number and an arrow in them, tell you how many blackened cells can be seen in the direction of the arrow. No blackened cells are allowed to share an edge. The puzzle has a single solution.

Puzzle 72: Mastermind

You need to figure out the 5-digit code (in which digits may repeat).
You are given a series of guesses. The circles next to each guess indicate the number of correct digits in the guess. A white circle means there is a correct digit in the wrong spot, and a black circle means there is a correct digit in the right spot.
There is a single solution.

גלו מה הקוד. הקוד מורכב מ-5 ספרות (ספרה יכולה לחזור על עצמה).  

נתונה סדרה של ניחושים. העיגולים ליד כל ניחוש מסמלים כמה ספרות נכונות יש בניחוש. עיגול לבן מסמל ספרה נכונה במיקום הלא נכון, ועיגול שחור מסמל שיש ספרה נכונה במקום הנכון.

Puzzle 69: Binary

Place a zero or a one in each cell. No row or column may contain three ajacent cells with the same digit in them. The number of zeros in each row and each column must be equal to the number of ones. No two rows may be identical, and no two columns may be identical.

Puzzle 68: Partial-Kropki Skyscrapers

This is a Skyscrapers puzzle combined with Kropki. Note that this variant only includes some of the standard Kropki rules, and not all of them. The Kropki will add the two following rules (in addition to the standard Skyscrapers rules that are written at the end of the post):
1. If two numbers have a black circle between them, one of them is exactly twice the value of the other.
2. If two numbers have a white circle between them, one is larger than the other by exactly 1.

This puzzle is a hybrid of Skyscrapers and easy as ABC. Each clue is either a Skyscrapers clue or an Easy as ABC clue (or possible both). You need to fill in the grid, so that each row and each column contain each of the numbers from 1 to 5 exactly once. It is up to you to figure which kind of clue each one is.
There is a unique solution to the puzzle.
